Like the wage gap, negotiations are also impacted by more than just gender. For example, race has a significant impact on negotiations - both the experience of negotiating as a candidate of color and compensation outcomes, as well. However, unfortunately, the impact of race on negotiations is significantly less researched than the impact of gender.

Here are some recommendations to consider in conjunction with our Annual Review / Promotion and New Offer best practices and our Thinking About Pay Holistically page.

Note: Our goal for this section is to empower and elevate people of color when it comes to negotiations and equal pay more broadly. However, we recognize that 1. the guidance below is incomplete and 2. we likely could use more intersectional language.
